Meet Mrs. Behrend...

My name is Mrs. Behrend (pronounced bear-end), and I helped open Lake Myra in Wake County 4 years ago. I've been teaching music for 14 years (4 of those at the Lake, 2 more in NC and another 8 in Ohio) and have two awesome daughters, one of whom is a 5th grader at LMES and the other is a 7th grader at Ligon. I am currently attending ECU (go Pirates) for my second Masters degree but this one is in Library Science, so life is busy in the Behrend house. My hubby is a middle school PE teacher in Holly Springs, and we have three dogs (yes, I said 3, it's a hairy zoo for sure) and one guinea pig. We love all things Scottish and Irish in my house, especially Irish dancing and kilts; both of my girls are competitive and I have been known to dance a jig myself! We are very excited to be planning a trip to Scotland and Ireland for the summer of 2015 as a celebration of my graduation from ECU (again:).
I am thrilled to begin this new chapter in my career, because I love to read and technology is fabulous. This year has been a learning year for me at the LM Media Center, and many of you are asking me if I miss teaching music. I will always love music, just come to the library and I'm sure you will catch me singing, but I very much enjoy my new position, too. Now, you can come and visit me anytime you like instead of just once per week. Come on down to the LMES Media Center and create some Media Mayhem with me!
